Rainy Sunday

Amazing!! Every Sunday for the last month or so it has rained or been cloudy. Today I hiked in the pouring rain up to a temple on a mountain near Seoul National University. I must have been crazy!! As the thunder rang out and the lightning filled the sky I made my way up under the wet green canopy to a temple Byounsan. When I reached the top there was one solitary man - stiff backed - young, staring at the Buddha in prayer. I came in - got a cushion - and sat down dripping and panting. For a few peaceful moments I stared at the Buddha and the paintings - candles burning - with the storm outside. Miraculous... This is Korea. Mysteries and magic at each corner 0 just escape from the madding crowd and breath.... Wonderful wet experience!
